Gallery 117 :

Exciting things have been happening at the gallery at 117 Linden Avenue in Long Beach. There’s been a change of management, and the gallery has been renamed Hellada, a reference to the classic era of ancient Greece. A renovation of the exhibition area has begun making it into a more open floor plan. The initial changes will be evident at the opening reception of Thea Robertshaw’s show during the Second Saturday Art Walk, September 12, 2009. Come to see her exhibit of portraiture and learn about exciting future changes and planned programs. Also, get introduced to new artist Scott Bloomfield whose works will be on display with the woks of other gallery artists in the revamped exhibition areas.

Gallery 117 is located in the heart of downtown Long Beach's East Village Arts District. It is a co-operative gallery whose members live and work in the Long Beach area, and have extensive ties to the local community. We are a central location for the Second Saturday Art Walks that turn Linden Avenue into a street fair with an interesting mix of vendors, performers, and live bands.

Gallery exhibitions change monthly giving visitors a continually different art experience. Members' works range from traditional to abstract to metaphysical, so there's something to appeal to everyone. In addition to the changing exhibitions, the gallery hosts a variety of workshops and events throughout the year that members of the community are welcome and encouraged to take part.
